Grooming your pet is good for more than his looks — it also keeps him comfortable and can alert you to potential health problems. Some tips:
Dogs don't need to be bathed more than once a month - but when it is bath time, put cotton balls in his ears to absorb water. Cats don't need baths unless they have fleas or a skin condition.
Wrapping your cat in a thick towel, head exposed, can make trimming her nails easier. Your furniture will thank you!
If your dog has black nails, just trim the edge, since you won't be able to see the quick. If you look at the dark nail head-on, you'll see a small dark circle. Once you see that, you should stop.
Gently clean your dog's ears with cotton balls, not cotton swabs. If the ears smell bad or seem painful, it could be a sign of an infection and the time to call your vet.
