I not only spend my days as a dog walker and local Horsham pet sitter, but am avidly involved in dog rescue! I spend a lot of my spare time volunteering and am on the board of directors for Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue. We have lots of dogs that come in and out of our rescue. one in particular is named Daphne.
Daphne came into our rescue in March 2012. She has been with us now in a foster home for over a year which is a considerably long time period for such a young dog! Daphne is a Siberian Husky and is only a young two years old! Daphne’s zest for life is amazing! She absolutely loves people and other dogs. She loves to “talk”, a lot!! She is crate trained, house trained and even respects baby gates as well as 4 and 5ft fencing! Daphne is bursting with energy and can be quite the Tom Boy when playing with her buddies. Daphne has a very adventurous spirit and enjoys going to see new places. So you may be thinking, Daphne sounds great and why has she not been adopted?
Daphne has been diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. You wouldn’t think that would be such a big deal but in Daphne’s case it is. Being only 2 years old, if she doesn’t have surgery to remove the cataracts, Daphne will lose eye sight in both eyes. The terminology for what she needs is bilateral phacoemulsification surgery. We made the decision to give Daphne the gift of sight! At only two years old, it would be devastating to let her loose her eye sight!
We have set up a fundraiser for our sweet girl Daphne to help reduce the costs of the surgery. If you would like to donate to Daphne’ surgery, you may click on this link and do so. http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/daphne-s-eye-surgery/59832.
Daphne has had several applicants that were interested in adopting her but once they found out the costs involved for her surgery, they decided she was simply not the right dog for them. Daphne’s wish is to receive the surgery because once her eyes are better, she is quite certain that her forever home will come along!
Daphne and other dogs like her are available for adoption at http://www.siberianhuskyrescue.org/. Interested in more articles like this or need a dog walker or pet sitter?
