I am an active volunteer and board of directors officer for Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue. So many dogs come in and out of our rescue and each has their own tale to tell. One of the more recent and disturbing tales is that of sweet Sasha.
Sasha’s story as we know it, begins here. Sweet Sasha was thrown out of a moving car in New Jersey while pregnant with 10 puppies. Sasha was left with quite a bit of road rash. A good Samaritan saw this happening and pulled over to pick Sasha up and take her home. They cared for Sasha for about a week or so and then contacted our rescue, Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue.
Although our volunteers tried everything in our power to provide her with the best nutrition, veterinary care, and support in the last two weeks of her pregnancy, sadly she delivered two stillborn puppies in her foster home. Despite CPR efforts the puppies could not be revived. We rushed her to an emergency hospital. Sasha received an emergency C-section to save her life and, we had hoped, to save the remaining pups. Sadly all of the puppies perished. After spending a night in ICU, Sasha is back in her foster home recovering. In addition to grieving the loss of all of the puppies, Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue is trying to recover from the staggering $2,000 in medical bills Sasha has accumulated so far.
As you can see, we have no idea what Sasha’s life was like prior to us taking her in. We only know that her life would have been lost had this kind soul not offered their help.
If anyone can donate to help offset the bills for this sweet girl, please go to our Web site at www.siberianhuskyrescue.org and click on the “Donate Now” link. You may also donate at www.dvshr.chipin.com. Any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference. In lieu of donations, volunteering at our events is also helpful.
